Hey,

after I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.11.1, I cannot connect my TV via miniDisplayport to HDMI - TV says unknown video signal.

I have a MacBook Pro 13" (mid 2012) with an Intel HD 4000 and a MacBook Pro 13" (2009) with a Nvidia GeForce 9400M - both have the problem. Both recognize the TV correctly and I can change resolution etc. but no video signal on the TV.

Anyone else here on the forum, too?

By the way: Mac OS X 10.11.2 PB is not fixing it ...

thanks for sharing any hints ...

Did you try another cable/adapter?

Not yet - I had no other HDMI cable or adapter. But I started both laptops from an external hd with OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 - with the same results. So it is obviously not a problem with Mac OS X 10.11.1, because under Yosemite everything worked fine before. Must be the Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter or the HDMI cable.

Thanks for your answer, problem solved I think. Did not expect the cable or adapter could stop working over night ...

By the way, is it better to buy a new Mini Displayport to HDMI cable or adapter?

My 13" mid-2009 MBP stopped sending HDMI out since El Capitan 10.11.1 PB2. Very frustrating as DisplayPort to HDMI is my primary output for my external monitor. Tested it on multiple devices, too -- no HDMI works now. VGA is fine, so the port is still working properly. Sent feedback to Apple so I hope this is resolved in the 10.11.2 cycle (but it too was not resolved for me with the first public beta).

I have a mbp 2012 non-retina 13" connected via thunderbolt-hdmi to an old Dynex Monitor. As worked fine through all betas and public releases. I did find a workaround to get a decent resolution on it, although, that problem was present since at least mavericks....I posted a thread concerning that, to anyone interested
