Mac OS X 10.2 Jaguar is based on Darwin, which is based on FreeBSD 4.2 right?

I'm pretty sure it is. Will future versions of Mac OS X [or Darwin] be based on more current versions of FreeBSD, or will it be updated from OpenDarwin? FreeBSD 5.0 seems like it can be a worthwhile upgrade to Mac OS X.

Does anyone know?

No, but some geeks like to know that kinda stuff. :) like me :) as I walk around in my <GEEK> hoodie, and my "Speed Daemon: Welcome To Darwin!" t-shirt :)

Does it really matter what they use? Will you really notice it?

I always say that new is better. FreeBSD 5.0 has lots of new features and security updates, so it may or may not matter.

Mac OS X 10.0, 10.1, and 10.2 all saw big improvements over the previous versions, so you will most likely notice it.
