Hello, So I thought I would start a fun project and buy an old iMac 5,1 to play around with as that is what I used in college for graphic design, but it seems I am in over my head.

I bought a iMac 5,1 with a broken HDD for $30, figured I wanted to put in a SSD so no problem. But I have been trying off and on for a couple week to get the OS installed on it with no luck. And worse yet I haven't been able to find any sort of tutorial on how to do it without already having a working Mac

The SSD is a Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB, what is the best way to install Mac OS onto it and get it running on the iMac from Windows 10

You cannot do that from a Windows machine and Transmac will not work. Suggest looking at eBay and such for a full retail version of Snow Leopard OS X.6 and be careful about Samsaung SSDs as they do not like older Macs and yours is a 2006 model.
