Hi !

I have installed Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion on my MacBookPro 2010, 4 GB Ram, 500 GB HD

Everything went fine and work great.....except

A few program seem to not work for one specific feature

The Control-click who give in many applications a popup menu with different option

Since my upgrade to Mountain Lion

When I use iPhoto with lastest update installed (the one release after Mountain Lion was release)

If I click on trash icon on the sidebar with the Control-click I usually was getting a popup with Empty trash option

Now when I select this option, each time I get a 2-3 second delay after that I see the infamous Beach ball....and eveything seem to stall

when I check on the activity monitor I see a 99.3% cpu utilization on the process of iPhoto

The only way to get out of that is to Force Quit

But If I use the delete iPhoto trash in the menu bar everything work fine

The same thing is true with Skype 2.8 and the lastest version 5.2.x of Skype

The Same With Word 2011

But all my other program seem to work fine

I think its related with a system call to built the popup list in memory but I am not sure....

I wondering if anyone had these problem with theses programs

Please help

P.S. I try this also on a new account same result....

If you are adventurous the a simple /Applications/Utilities/Terminal command you can put in the will reset the right click problem.

So here is the Terminal code you can put into Terminal:

Code:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

Leave Terminal running until you get another Terminal prompt. This code will reset the right click selections in OS X.

I noticed you've got a MBP and assuming you use the trackpad - I have recently stopped using ctrl-click, and have switched to a 'gentle tap with two fingers' as an alternative 'secondary click' - just wondered if this might help / make a difference ?

I know it's not a permanent solution, just a suggestion...

Hello,

I had the same problem
I fix it by removing old .plugin folder here :

/Library/Contextual Menu Items

and here :

/Users/my_account/Library/Contextual Menu Items

No more problem since this action.
