Mac OS X Server failing to install the MDM SCEP

Hello, I am trying to set up a lab in my house to get a sense and understanding of how Mac OS X Server Application works and in the specific how the Profile Manger service works and how can I enroll and manage an additional Mac OS X device using Profile Manger from the server.
The hostname of the server: appleserver The server has a static ip: 10.0.0.101 I enabled the Profile Manager service on the server and everything works fine.
Then, on the other Mac OS X device that I would like to enroll > I tried to enroll the device from the following URL http://10.0.0.101 It took me to a welcome page (welcome to macOS server) > I clicked on My Devices (Enroll your Macs and iOS device to they can be set up by your organization). > I enter the admin credentials > a web site url failed to open because I noticed that it was trying to open the following url https://appleserver/mydevices/ so I replaced appleserver with 10.0.0.101 and I was able to reach the Devices/Profiles options. > I select first Profiles and I was able to install the Profiles > then I clicked on Devices Enroll and here is failing the enrollment process because (my guess) is trying to reach the following url to download the mdm remote management profile: http://appleserver:80/mdm/scep I did try to visit: https://10.0.0.101:80/mdm/scep but I received the following message: INTERNAL SERVER ERROR
Any idea how can I fix this? Thank you so much in advance.

Your server needs to have a fully qualified domain name: something like appleserver.example.com. Profile Manager (which should not be used as a production management system according to Apple employees) requires that to work correctly.

Thank you so much, that helped by changing the hostname of the server from appleserver to a FQDN. Thanks a lot.

As chrfr says an FQDN is required for Profile Manager. Try to avoid anything that ends .local (bonjour, but used in Windows lan networks).
Profile manager can be variable quality, but generally runs well on small networks in my experience.
