Hi,

We have been running a Max OS X server for a very small office environment. I want to figure out how to set up Wiki and our intranet hosted together. I have been watching a Lynda.com tutorials to learn the process but this part is still elusive to me.

DNS and OD are both set up and running correctly. The server has 10.0.1.10 ip address.

Is this something I can set up by creating an alias in Web options? If so, what are the necessary steps to do that?

We have been using it for internal usage such as file sharing, printer pool, address book sharing, software update server and etc. It is very light usage so far.

If you can help me to understand it, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Hosted together do you mean with the same URL? They technically are hosted together to begin with. If you want you website to be http://www.mycompany.com/website and wiki to be http://www.mycompany.com/wiki you would need to setup aliases for that and each company internally connected will also need to be connected to the DNS server. Is this your primary DNS server?

Hi,

Thank you for the quick reply.

Right now we have a local domain called:

ServerName.CompanyName.lan (or 10.0.1.10)

that is how our intranet is set up. It direct to documents folder under websharing

But if I do this, Wiki will be disabled because it is the same domain name. I suppose they can have two separate domain name like

wiki.CompanyName.lan

Yes, this is primary DNS.

Thank you again!

wiki.company.com is the best way to set it up. You can make whatever records you need as long as the clients are pointing to the primary DNS server.
