Mac Photos App - Any in Places to show subset of pics in map?

In the MAC Photos app it has ALL the photos on a map (Places). It looks like all my images are in there but I wanted to know if there is a way to only put select photos in Places to view (EX. Only year 2021...etc)?

You can create an album for each year, and sort your photos by year into each album. Got to to that album, it the circle with the "i" in it, and it should show you a mini map in the dropdown box (if you don't have any photo selected) and you can zoom in and out of it, but it's much smaller that the one that "Places" has. I tried the other way around, search in Places for a year, but no map and hitting the info button just causes the Ventura version of Photos.app to crash.
