As I was looking through the info on the new 5K iMac, I found this image on the performance page: http://www.apple.com/imac-with-retina/performance/

It doesn't look like Lightroom, and it certainly isn't iPhoto or Aperture. So could this be another part of the sidebar for the new Photos app coming next year? Or is this some other app?

Probably is. They also released a screenshot at some point of the Photos app. Can't freaking wait for it to drop...

Thanks for posting that. Now that I look at it, I'm not sure it the same app. The histogram is way different and the layout is also different. There are no icons at the top.

For me, I can't wait to get all my photos in the cloud and have the ability to sync edits between my iMac and iPhone. My most requested tool would be a tool to remove chromatic aberration ... even if it's just an auto thing. With a zoom lens, I deal with that little problem all the time.

Yeah, at some point it really became kind of pathetic that the iPhoto app on iOS turned out to be far more usable, and surprisingly enough even more capable of basic photo editing than the OSX version... all of the iLife and iWork apps got a major overhaul in the recent years, but iPhoto. It's like a dinosaur now, I hardly even open it, it is so much of a bad user experience to use it for the few things that it is even usable for...

In the OP the screen on the left looks like it might be displaying Pixelmator. Those look like Pixelmator's effects panel, layers panel and saturation panel. Looks like it might finally be enclosed into a window with the panels attached instead of floating panels (I hope).

The image on the right looks like Apple's photo.app. If you look at the UI of both their slightly a different color. The one on the left looking darker like Pixelmator.

On the iMac on the right in the first picture posted on the thread? I do believe that it's Final Cut Pro, if I'm not mistaken...

I'm sure as others have suggested that the OP image isn't photos app, but seeing this image of the photos app really makes me wish that "dark mode" made all the windows in os x black like this. So slick and really makes the tragic lights pop.

nice catch! the effect panel is definitely Pixemator's. Makes sense they are one of the flagship applications of the new iMac, given that they partner with Apple for the iPad 2 event.

Yes the image of the app in the computer to the right could be FCP, no idea. But I'm pretty sure about the Pixelmator app though. :)

Update! “Leaked” Image of new Photos app for OS X

Someone at Apple screwed up a bit: In the OS X Human Interface Guidelines book on iBooks, on page 16 there is a small image of the new Photos app. I couldn’t save it from the book, so I screenshoted the screenshot (it was already blurry in the book). Enjoy!
