Help!

My 2009 MacBook is really struggling. I've just paid to increase my iCloud data so that I can move my photos there and release some space on my Mac. Unfortunately Photos keeps filling up any free space on the Mac with extra photos! When I then go to add anything else to the Mac, even download something, it tells me the hard drive is full.

Can anyone help?

Essentially I want to have all my photos stored in iCloud, and then limit how many are stored on the Mac so that I can free up some space on the hard drive.

In iCloud Photos, you need to turn on "Optimize Storage".

That's exactly what I've done. The optimise storage option fills any free space with photos. I want to limit the number of photos stored on my MacBook so that there is some free space left.

Anyone?

Thanks, but you don't seem to be reading my posts. I already had optimise turned on. All that is doing is filling the free space on my Mac with photos. As I have an old Mac with very limited space I am hitting my limit. Any time I need hard drive space Im getting error messages telling me the hard drive is full.

So thanks for taking the time to reply, but unfortunately you weren't actually answering the question.
