I'm in the process of scanning all my old film negatives with an Epson V600 scanner. The output is (by my choice) a .TIFF. I can't seem to figure out the best way to post process them in PS and then get them into Photos. If they are in Photos and I process in PS when I save them as .jpeg they disappear until I open the .tiff again in PS then it is a .jpeg. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have Photos set to use local storage or to optimize storage with iCloud? If it’s the latter, Photos will probably upload the TIFF to iCloud and keep a jpg on your Mac to save space.

Either way, I suggest storing your TIFFs to a folder on your Mac, do your edits in photoshop, and then export jpgs to save to Photos. You can always keep your originals in a separate location, just not directly in Photos.

I believe it is set to optimized...Great idea thanks for your thoughts!
