Hy everyone,

I have a really strange problem. Yesterday I was gaming bf3 when all of a sudden my computer screen turned black. I pressed reboot but it happened again.

I tried resetting the SMC memory and holding command alt + P&R and my mac pro jumped back to mac with the screen on. So if I boot in mac everything is fine.

Now comes the weird part: every time I try to boot in windows, my screens turn black. I tried reinstalling lion, reinstalling windows and so forth. I always see "loading drivers" and sometimes even the start of the installation but after a while my screens turn black.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 5870 from apple in my system. Is it possible something in the bootloader for windows could have gone wrong? I mean I don't know a lot about boots and so forth, but this sounds like an EFI problem or something?

I hope someone can help cause this really sucks.

Soul

I'm having exactly the same problem. I have a 5,1 running 10.7.4, and I used to be able to get into the installation options, but now I only get as far as 'loading files' and my screen goes black. Doesn't matter if I use EFI boot or normal boot, the screen just goes black. Any ideas chaps?

Thought I'd update this thread when I'd figured my issue out in the hopes the OP and others may benefit from it.

After much rebooting and PRAM resetting, error messages galore about Windows not being able to install in this drive partition and many other things, I eventually got Windows to tell me one interesting thing;

'Your computer hardware does not support booting from this drive'.

The hard drive I was trying to install Windows on was in Bay 4. Took Bay 4 and 1 out and swapped them over; Windows installed perfectly.
