Hi all,
I'm hoping someone may be able to offer advice.
I've been through as many threads as I can reading for information and think I've exhausted all I can find.

The backstory is I've owned a 2009 4,1 with 5,1 firmware for several years.
It has 2 x 5680 CPUs (delidded) and 3 x 8GB compatible ram and has worked flawlessly for years.

I sold it through eBay and packaged extremely well (retail packaging plus 1/2" polystyrene all-round and an additional outer box).

The buyer received it, was happy with condition on arrival, added more compatible memory prior to testing,
used the machine successfully for a few hours, then says the machine crashed and refuses to reboot.

He tells me there is no chime and that the power light is solid.
There are no red diagnostic lights lit near the memory.

This buyer has been very friendly and has followed many troubleshooting tips I've give including
Attempting SMC reset,
Attempting NVRAM reset,
Attempting boot with different GPU (I sold it with RX570 + GT120),
Attempting boot with his new ram removed,
Attempting boot with only one ram stick installed.

He also took it to an Apple store but they were unable to offer any valuable information and had no parts to swap for diagnosing.

The machine also has 2 x M.2 pcie cards and 1 X sata 2 pcie cards.
I've asked the buyer to remove these for testing but it's unclear at present if he has tried that.

Basically the buyer is now requesting a refund and I don't imagine there's much chance of eBay settling in his favour,
but if there's anything at all I can do to help the guy and get him up and running I'd like to.

Hoping someone can think of some troubleshooting that I have missed.
Thank you in advance for any replies.

EFI_DONE is on or off when DIAG button is pressed? A working Mac Pro should have the EFI_DONE LED lit the instant the DIAG button is pressed.

From what you described, the most important right now is to know if EFI_DONE is on or off.

Hi tsialex,
Thanks for the info.
I'll get this information from the buyer. I appreciate your reply.
