Hi all,

I own a 2006 MacPro 1.1 with a 2.66Ghz dual Xeon 5150 processor.
If I purchase the current MacPro Quad-Core single processor Nehalem machine (2499.00$)......

Will i see a massive CPU power increases?

My main use is Logic9 , so i would be looking for more processing power for virtual synths and convolution based reverbs etc.

My old macPro 1.1 has 16 gig of RAM and so would the new one....

Do you make money from work done on your Mac Pro? Would getting your work done faster be of much financial benefit to you?

Can you put 16gb in a MBP?

*just seen you can on the 2011 models. awesome. That with an external RAID enclosure with thunderbolt, would really make it an aweosme portable testing machine.*

By the time you put 16GB RAM in a MBP you may as well get a Mac Pro.

Even the entry level MBP is faster than a MP 1,1 now. If you want to upgrade, you should wait for the Sandy Bridge Mac Pros and you will get a BEAST:D

I went with a 17" macbook pro! :D
in regards to the ram i'm finding that the ssd is so fast i'm not noticing i'm swapping 6GB
