Hi,
I'm having a problem option booting to the boot drive selection screen with a USB keyboard chained through a new ACD 27" (DisplayPort model).

Mac Pro is a 2006 1,1 with (upgraded) dual quad-core xeons and 16GB of ram. Video card is an Apple ATI HD5770. Keyboard is a full size Apple USB keyboard. OS X Lion and Windows 7 on separate 128GB SSD hard drives.

Essentially it seems the issue is that the keyboard isn't detected until the OS is loaded. When the keyboard is directly connected to the same USB port it works fine.

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, and if so, is there a workaround? This obviously isn't a major issue, but it's a little irritating...

Just to answer my own question (in case anyone else has this problem): after upgrading to a 2010 Mac Pro this problem is now resolved. It seems that this is an issue with the 2006 Mac Pro model.

Same Issue

I had the exact same issue with my 2,1 2007 Mac Pro. I had to plug the keyboard directly into the Mac instead of the 27" display.

My problem was resolved by selling my 2,1 and picking up a new 5,1. :D
