Hi all,

Our church has a Mac Pro 1,1 that is acting very very strange. when it boots up, the screen garbles, then it starts to flash in pink and purple...

Sometimes it does this immediately, sometimes it will allow us to login to a user account. Sometimes it will even allow us to open a program. Sometimes it doesn't even mess up at all. Any ideas?

Sounds like a video card is getting ready to go to Valhalla. I had similar issues when my 7300 died.

Mac Pro 1,1 owner here. My guess is, the screen garbling and intermittent errors sound like a video card problem. What card do you currently have in there?

We have two video cards in there... and they are just the stock cards: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT.

So, perhaps just a new video card and this puppy will be good to go? Are there diagnostics I can run on the machine to see if that is the case?
