3 days ago I installed Windows 10 on my Mac Pro 1,1 without the use of bootcamp. Everything works except every half hour to 2 hours the computer completely locks up and freezes and I have to hold the power button to shut it down. This usually happens under heavy load.
On El Capitan it never froze so I'm very confused; if anyone can shed some light on this, I'd be most grateful.
Do you run any win32 soft that actively monitors/controls the fans (e.g.,
smcFanControl,
Macs Fan Control, etc.)?
It sounds like my past (similar) experiences when using Win32 on my 1,1
Apple's SMC monitors/controls the thermals, natively, but when stepping out of spec (like using processors faster than BTO, installing an OS different than OS X, etc.), the load is often not natively taken into account.
I run two x5675's with six 16GiB ram dimms (and a 980Ti) in my 5,1, and I need (particularly in Summer) more granular fan control . . . in my case, I use iStat Menus to create configurable fan profiles.
P.S., try to keep your posts to one sub-forum, as it can attract more dedicated answers, and not efectively dilute your responses
