Mac Pro 1,1 - Odd Kernel Panic?

Hey guys!

So i went ahead and did a few 'upgrades' on my Mac Pro 1,1 and all seems well except for the occasional kernel panic. I cant seem to find this occuring elsewhere as i thought it may be due to running an unsupported version of OS X on the machine, but if that were the case surely others would experience this issue.

What i did:
Added more RAM. There is now 12GB total RAM
Changed the GPU. The system now has a HD5770 GPU
Updated the OS to 10.9 (Would have done 10.10 but iDVD is required and i've heard it doesnt work above 10.9)

Anywho! Every so often the system panics, only this time did it actually save the panic log which i have copy/pasted below. It seems to indicate the AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement was part of the panic/problem? The frequency of the panics is quite low.

Any information on possible causes for these panics would be appreciated!

Looks like your CPUs are at fault causing the intel CPU Power management kext to Crash and take the system down...

Hm, damn. Well if it keeps happening i did plan on a CPU upgrade soon anyway, may just be sooner!

Update: So i've done some changes and so far, no more panics! But just incase, i did order some X5355 processors as an upgrade/replacement. Also updated the 1,1 BootROM to 2,1 via the Netkas updater (Apparently required for when i install newer processors). The update alone did not solve the panics though, what seems to have solved it (so far anyway) is downgrading the OS from Mavericks to Mountain Lion, so far its been running smoothly. I wonder if this was something as silly as a software glitch. Will investigate that later...

I ran 10.9 and now 10.10.4 on my mac pro 1,1 with no issues. I have 10 GB ram and also use the 5770 GPU (Apple).
Don't think the problem is software unless the install was bad. iDVD is not needed to install Yosemite BTW.

Edit: Odd, just out of curiosity i wanted to check CPU temps and it seems the mac has shut off core 2 and 4 as they report a temperature of 0. Could that be the reason for the panics?

Edit 2: Further investigation is suggesting that 1 core on each CPU has failed and the Mac has shut them off, running Instruments from Xcode app and going to Preferences shows 2 CPU cores active even though the system is a Quad Core and attempting to change it to 4 does nothing. Seems conclusive the CPUs are faulty and need replacing. If anyone has any further information though then by all means contribute

Well it looks like im stuck with 10.9, 10.8 was running smoothly as i said but iMessage died and i got that dreaded 'Customer Code' (Am Not using any legacy bootloaders either, using the boot.efi method, might be that the system ID (UUID?) changed with the 10.8 install so account flagged there?) So far even 10.9 is running smoothly but that actually seems bad since it could really indicate that the CPU's will suddenly fail (A calm before the storm type scenario). I've also removed any now un-used kernel extensions (Had a few Iomega REV drive kexts from Lion that of course dont work in the new 64Bit environment that Mavericks has) and some unused software (CarbonCopyCloner, Xilisoft converter). The only actual difference between the 10.9 and 10.8 is that i didnt migrate my user data over so that might have been why but i cant confirm now.

Either way the new CPU's are on their way, they are X5355 2.66GHz Quad Core Xeon (SLAEG). I've also removed all HYNX ram from my mac, i noticed an odd reboot-loop symptom when using this memory, may have just been those modules though. I now have 7GB (6x1GB and 2x512MB)

Almost 2hrs and still good, and CPUs have been under load. Will do a final update in a couple days which in my opinion is enough time to determine if these replacements are solid Will also include any other info, if relevant incase anyone else encounters similar issues to me.

Well, a final update. The Mac Pro was faulty. Everything was going fine and then suddenly Cra...cra...cra... yep...crashed. (Was playing music so that was the result ) and the CPUA and CPUB lights were illuminated. I did some more research and i found that the CPUA and CPUB lights can apparently 'lie' and i may have been experiencing a different issue.

To be blunt, i couldnt be bothered investigating too much as i needed a working system for my Tape to DVD services so i just bought a Mac Pro 3,1 that was within my budget.

Offtopic; Is it possible to use a USB 3.0 card in a Mac Pro 3,1?
