Download Oemden's Yosemite Beta and created a Sffot install on a 16 gig USB. Every time I try to boot from the USB on my Mac pro 1.1 it freezes on the black apple boot screen with text at the top which seems to imply a kernal panic. I must confess I am not terribly technically proficient however I am 100% sure I followed the correct steps in creating the USB key as I have already done so for Mt Lion and Mavericks.

It's dead, Jim. (avatar joke)

Maybe it's time to retire a first generation cheese grater.

Careful , isn't the Captain supposed to go down with the ship ?

OP - where there is a chime , there is hope .

Looks like a Kernel panic . Could be a cruddy installer or ...

Does the Mac work properly with Snow OS X 10.6.x installed ?

[doublepost=1458534890][/doublepost]Presently there are three drives Lion, Mt Lion and Mavericks. Used Sfott install for Mt Lion & Mavericks however Yosemite seems to be problematic.

Is there a reason to hackintosh a 10yo computer? Is there a piece of SW that you need to run that requires anything above 10.7?

Apple security updates . Anyone using OS X 10.8.5 and earlier should air gap his Mac , because they are no longer receiving security updates . Placing a modern OS X install on an older officially unsupported Mac is not a hackintosh . They are quiet stable, unlike Hackintoshes .

All of the OS X versions are fine and stable and the Tiamo boot/ SFott installs have worked flawlessly until trying to use the Oemden's Yosemite Beta.

I would build a new installer . I believe I used Piker Alpha with perfect results and a wonderfully stable Mac Pro 1,1 > 2,1 running Yosemite .

[doublepost=1458583746][/doublepost]Appreciate the feedback and your suggestion, is there any decent instructions on how to use the Piker Alpha Installer. Do keep in mind I am not too technically proficient ; )

Shoot me a PM if you get stuck . And I may have used some instructions no longer available (I searched) . I have them in my archives, though .

I could never get my 2006 MacPro booting from USB, even ones using proper patched efi of sorts.

I also tried Chameleon/Clover on it with mixed results, I was trying to use them to fire up a installer from USB, then install boot native after patch boot.efi, I find using late-2008 iMac running El Cap, installs El Cap great (I also have no boot screen unless toss in old card)
