Mac Pro 1.1 Value in today's market

Performance will depend on how the machines are configured and what it is used for. Benchmarks, at best, are only a very rough indicator of performance. For instance, if I add more ram to my machine, the geekbench score will go up.
Using your example of a current mac mini, it will perform worse than my Mac Pro 1,1 because of memory limitations, regardless of the geekbench score. I have a number of 64-bit applications that will take every bit of ram I can throw at them. I can have more programs open doing things & still have great responsiveness because I have plenty of headroom - I max out at 32gigs. The mac mini (with my applications) will be constantly swapping out memory because it maxes out at 16gb - performance and responsiveness will go out the window.

I'm assuming you have a 7300GT as a video card. With that amount of RAM, I'd say you should get anywhere between 600-800 bucks. Depending on demand. I just saw 6 MPs with 5160s go for 615 EUR on separate sales locally.

Thanks for all the replies. I am looking at one on Craigslist, and the asking price is $599 (USD). I don't really have the need for it, but you know I like my toys...
the 1,1 MP's are still great work horses. The only lacking area I found with mine was the video card, that was originally in it [7300GT]. I recently found a newish 8800GT, which was the highest option at the time for these models.
Another thing I did was to upgrade the processors. I turned my Quad 2.0 GHz, into a 8 Core 2.66 GHz. This simple [somewhat] upgrade, was the biggest benefit, and I bought two Quad Xeon processors for $250.
All in all, i think you have a great machine; it still has potential.

Sweetfeld: I'm currently looking to upgrade my memory on my MacPro 1.1.
Love this machine, but I need a few things:
1) memory: where should I buy from? Have you heard of a manufacturer called Buslink? Are they good?
2) the video card: I think I need to replace mine. My Apple Display won't turn off if I put the computer to sleep. If I put it to sleep, I have to now attach it to my laptop, then go back and hook it up with my MacPro, and then it will turn on. So, where did you find a good video card? How do I find one? What am I looking for? How do I install it?
I know: lots of questions. Thanks for your help!!!

1] You should try looking on ebay, or even try LEM Swap [its a google group for swapping Mac computers and parts]. Or check out OtherWorldComputing.
2] What video card do you have? 7600GT, 8800GT?
3] Find video cards on LEM Swap, or buy the from OWC, or ebay. You just need to make sure it will be compatible with your model. I'm not exactly sure what newer cards will work, but I know there are a few. I would have to do some research myself to find out.
