I currently have a Mac Pro 1,1 2.66GHz with a few upgrades, these include ATI 5770, 8GB RAM & Dual OCZ Vertex 2's in software RAID 0 however when trying to stream my xbox using a blackmagic intensity pro capture card i notice my mac pro is starting to struggle and i've been thinking its probably time for an upgrade.

How much of an upgrade would a 5,1 Mac Pro 2.8GHz compared to my current one?
Would the 5,1 take advantage of the dual SSD's and get faster speeds?

Well Processor wise:
2.66GHz 1,1: 4833
2.8GHz 5,1: 8839

SATA speeds will be the same. Vertex 2 can get just to saturation point on 3.0Gb SATAII. All Mac Pro's are SATAII right now. So no bandwidth bump. 2x Vertex 2's should be able to get into the 400MB/s+ in RAID0 on a 1,1 AND a 5,1. Seriously doubt the SSD's are the problem unless something is wrong with them. You should run a disk test and find out how fast they are running now.
