Hello all,
I have a Mac Pro 1,1 that I'm changing the graphics card with a 4870.
I wanted to know what was the version of Mac Os is the most easy to install ?
Is there a link where can I download a guide ?
Thanks to all,
Vincenzo

The Radeon 4870 shipped with Mac Pro 2009 with OS X 10.5.7 which is the minimum OS for that card.

Afaik all OS up to El Capitan support this card.

My 2010 iMac has this card and that runs fine under Sierra, too, although the MP 1,1 won't get past El Capitan.

You mean it is a Pc card or it's flashed card?

If it's a PC card you will have no boot screen.

It is a PC Card flash for Mac Pro. Are there problem with setup Mac Os X Setup ?

most ATI 4870's are easy to flash do some reading on this forum good luck

The card has already been flash and the old owner, he assured me that it works, can I still send it back without any problems.
Currently I have this situation.
Mac Pro with 10.7.5 and tab 7300, the standard. But do you think that I can unplug the card 7300 and install the ATI4870. The version 10.7.5, it still works without problems, or you are forced to force to install the new operating system ?

Yes, you can change the card straightforward. It will work with 10.7.5.

10.7.5 in a mac pro 1,1 works fine with the 4870, 5770, and 5870.

I have those cards and no problems, although mine are all original Apple cards.

But the difference between a video card Apple and a pc video card that works in a Mac Pro, what is it ?
