Mac Pro 1,1 Yosemite USB Installer Not Working

I recently picked up a 1,1 on eBay to upgrade and use for some media transferring work I need to do. Today I put X5365s in it and all seems well. Besides that, all I have done is the 1,1 to 2,1 firmware update. I have a GTX 660 and an SSD waiting to be installed, but I've hit a roadblock. Every time I try to create a bootable USB Yosemite installer via the Piker-Alpha pre-patched disk image, it fails. I am able to select "Yosemite Installer" to boot from after holding down the Option key, and the Apple logo comes up with a progress bar. When the bar is about 1/3 of the way full, the screen goes white as if it has finished and is about to load the GUI, but it never does, and no matter how long I wait, that's as far as it gets. I've wiped the USB stick and put the disk image back on it, but no luck. This issue has happened the same way before and after both the CPU upgrade and the firmware upgrade.

And now there's another problem: I tried to install my new GTX 660, but every time the Mac Pro boots with the card it kernel panics. I've tried it with and without the 7300 GT installed in slot 2, and with and without the power cable plugged into the card. It seems that the card may be DOA, I'm not aware of any other reasons it might be causing a kernel panic? I'm currently running 10.7.5 so there should natively be drivers for this card.

Some have reported problems with different brands of USB sticks. I had no problem with the Lexar sticks.

Thanks for the help but it turns out it was just a stupid error on my part. When I formatted the USB drive, I didn't create the GUID single partition. After doing this, the installed booted and worked just fine. And as for the video card, apparently the native nVidia driver in 10.7.5 is only EFI64, causing the kernel panic on boot. After the Piker-Alpha Yosemite install, the card works just fine. Only problem is that its DVI port does not let me use a DVI-to-VGA adapter with it, everything else is fine.
