In some places I've read that my machine is supported, and in others it says it's not supported.

The App store allows me to click the "Buy App" button.. but I haven't yet because if it's not supported, it might still charge me and then refuse to install, right? How does it work? Will it prevent me from buying it if it knows it doesn't run on my machine?

You will not be able to purchase it via the machine. Try it. You won't be charged.

You can buy it on a machine that will run it, save the .dmg file to a USB and install it via a few tricks that you can google to install.

I am running Mountain Lion on my Mac Pro 2,1. The same machine as yours.

Mac Pro 1,1 has a 32bit EFI, so it's unsupported. I used to have a Mac Pro 1,1 and upgraded to a 27" i7 iMac a couple years ago for this reason.

Do you need assistance into how to make it work?

You can run Mountain Lion on your machine. I am doing now!

I would like to know how to get it working. Links or instructions would be much appriciated. I have a Mac Pro 1.1 that is working fine for everything I need it to do and don't want to buy a new machine just yet.

Thanks
