Hello everyone,

I don’t usually post on this forum, but I really need some help and support to solve a major issue.

I have a Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon graphics card, but unfortunately, I don’t remember the model. The card has always worked fine until one day when I started experiencing some issues.

I powered off the Mac Pro and left it stationary under my desk. A few months ago, I wanted to use it again, but I noticed some abnormal behavior. When I turn it on, the Mac boots up, the graphics card fan starts spinning, but after a few seconds, it stops. Even though I connect a monitor, there is no video signal.

I believe there is an issue with the graphics card, so I would like to replace it, hoping that it is indeed the cause of the problem. I found some cards on a popular auction platform, but I’m unsure whether to buy them.

Additionally, I would like to know what is the maximum expansion I can make with this Mac.

Can you post version of macOS installed on cMP 1,1 and exact GPU. Without this detailed info, difficult to provide helpful suggestions other than run Apple Hardware Test by either holding down D-key (or Option+D) while booting. Depending on how much you have durped w/ your cMP, you may need to create an AHT bootable USB media.
