Wondering if it is possible for me to run an AMD R9 290 in my 2,1 Mac Pro? I firmware hacked it from 1,1 to 2,1 and is currently running 10.11.6 using the modified Boot.efi method.

I have an external PSU for power instead of internal power, i am wondering if there are any drivers, or Kext files i would need to input?

Thanks!

I would recommend going to forums.netkas.org with this one. They focus on graphics card compatibility with Macs.

I could never get my reference R9 290 to work properly in 10.11 or 10.12 on a 4,1>5,1, never tried after that. I remember I had to modify a kext to add the device ID but things still didn't work right, artifacts and the fan would never spin up past the lowest speed and I was too afraid of burning up the card so I just stopped.
