Hi everybody! first post on this fantastic forum:)
I'm considering a GPU upgrade for my 2.1 mac pro that I'm using for high end 3d architectural visualization.
Actually I'm running a Radeon X1900 XT 512MB, never had problem before but a new release of my main software(Cinema4d R14) has shown some serious performance issues related to graphic card or graphic card's driver.
On older software version(R13) Cinema4d uses a 2.1 ATI-7.4.1 OpenGL which runs just fine, while on R14 Cinema uses a 3.2 Apple OpenGL like in attached pictures. Somebody on a 3d forum told me that I can force the new software to use older OpenGL version from command line but I don't know how to.
Finally I decided to just buy a newer GPU, but as many of you I'm waiting for the 2013 MP so I don't want to invest big money on my old pro.
Looking online I've restricted my choice to these 3 models, an HD 4870, a 5770 and a more expensive 5870.

I'm looking for some advice on which card to choose, and of course let me know if there are better cards for that kind of money.
Thanks in advance:)

do you NEED a boot screen? if not, then I'd suggest one of the PC variant GPUs - you'll get more "bang for your buck" that way. check the sticky at the top, lots of info in there.

No, I don't necessarily need a boot screen as long as everything else is working fine. Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction:)
