After several years of good service, my 2007 Mac Pro is acting up.

It has a RAID card with a RAID 5 setup, one drive failed and since then the computer boots for after a few minutes I get the crash screen. The funny thing is that it also happens when booting from a CD... I changed the video card to a Quadro 4500 two months ago without issues. I have removed the bad drive but same problem. There is no obvious message in the console.

What should I do next? Remove all the drives and boot from CD to see the difference? Remove the RAID card if that's not too hard to do? Sell the computer the way it is and move on?

Tks

Forgot to mention that in the middle of this the RAID card decided to condition the battery...

This points on RAID card. Cause may be its dying battery, or the card itself.
