Hello, (my first post, please be patient if I don't get things quite right yet)
I currently run a Mac Pro 2,1 (OS 10.6.8) which I am considering to replace with a Mac Pro 3,1.
Even though the 2,1 is 64-bit architecture (but 32-bit EFI) it runs quite successfully some of my old 32-bit software (in particular QuarkXPress, FileMaker Pro). It is important to me to keep running this software (can't afford to buy new versions).
Will this software continue to work on a Mac Pro 3,1 (with 64-bit EFI !) as it currently does on the 2,1? Or will problems arise from the different EFI (or the different graphic cards, different processors etc.)? Or any other incompatibilities?
(I would be running the old software from a second hard disk on the Mac Pro 3,1 still with OS 10.6.8 installed, same as currently on the 2,1)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
