If someone can test the Yosemite beta to see if the Mac Pro 2008 (3.1 Harpertown) has the 'Continuity' functionality that would be appreciated. My machine doesn't support 'AirDrop' and my understanding is that 'Continuity' is based on 'AirDrop'. However, I've also heard that upgrading the wifi card can enable 'Airdrop' functionality on this computer so perhaps that might be required for 'Continuity'? Any wisdom appreciated - Thanks!

Oh man, I sure hope so, I never thought about that, thats the main feature i was looking forward too.

As 2008 macpro might not have wifi card by default in some configs.

I've used some mbp compatible broadcom card first, then replaced it with wifi/bluetooth card from latest imac/mbp that uses a specialadapter (got both from MVC) and now my macpro 2008 supports both airdrop and bt 4.0.

i don't know how to check continuity support.

I just launched airdrop on Yosemite and at the bottom it states this.

Airdrop with older Macs: On

Maybe airdrop will work with older Macs now.

Edit: Just airdropped a photo from my Mid 2007 iMac 24" running Mavericks to my Macbook Air running Yosemite and it worked without any problems.

Hi netkas,

Are you able to post the link to the special adapter you purchased?

Yes, you get to choose between Airdrop that works with "Older Macs" or Airdrop that works with new Macs and IOS devices.

It's one or the other.

He got it from us. (Check the caps in our name)

The card enables WiFi AC and BT 4.0 in a 1,1 or a 2,1.

Have it up and running in my Dual 5365 2,1 and it works fine in 10.9.4

Haven't bothered with Yose in that one, waiting for that genius Tiamo to work his magic and make it painless.

I imagine he will wait until GM so as to not have Apple undermine his work.

There is every reason to believe that a 1,1 or 2,1 using that card will have full function in Yosemite.

MacVidCards: Does the BCM94360CD card need to be mod before it can be used in Mac Pro 1,1 or 2,1?
