I just purchased a used Mac Pro 4,1 from 2009 Intel quad core 2.66. The graphics card isn't enough for me so I want to upgrade but I would also like to keep the boot screens so would it work if I put a pc card with the original card? I want the original card to give me the boot screens and I want the new PC Card to give me the performance I need will this work?
Thanks in advance- Ivan

Rejoice ! While your machine is named "2009" it can use GPUs from today unlike the one named "2013" which will forever have 2011 tech bolted into it.

There are MANY options and the more you post about your work needs and OS the better advice you will get. If you see a 4K or 5K display in your future, also a good thing to mention.

Thanks for the useful info I'll keep this in mind while looking for a new card

AFAIK, using the GT120 with 750Ti together is possible. The biggest potential problem may be if you want to use Windows 10 on the same machine. The "force update" function may screw up the drivers.
