Resolved Mac Pro 2009 Memory Compatibility

I have been given the chance to get a set of 64GB of ram recently that I want to put in my 2009 Mac Pro flashed to 5,1. Would anyone know if these sticks would work?

16GB 2Rx4 PC3L 12800R - 11 - 12 - E2

those RAM sticks will work fine in your Mac Pro they are even the preferred 2Rx4 Ranking

just make sure to remove any non Registered RAM from your mac pro as it wont boot with mixed RDIMM/UDIMM RAM configurations

well I have 4 slots so I will buy 4 and replace all the current ram, now to decide is it worth it. I already have 16gb in the machine.

Edit. Got the ram and the system will only boot with 3/4 installed. Makes it 48GB ddr3. I looked online and believe its the limitation of my machine, quad 2.66ghz base model.

Correct, it require the X56xx CPU to boot 64GB of RAM.

May be, but should be way below the limit.
