I just purchased a refurbished Mac Pro 2010 with 2CPUs 2.93GHz. The video card is ATI Radeon HD5770 1024MB . I did PRAM reset but it didn't work. The MAC does not have any chim sound when booting up. when doing PRAM reset, it has only 1 chim sound and the login screen show up. Attachments are the screenshots of the system and PCI card. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Probably no real mac-card, seems it is a normal pc-card flashed with the vanilla mac-rom. The framebuffer-personality "Hoolock" is the right for the original mac-card, which has 2 mini-displayports and 1 DVI-port.

Looks to be an actual Apple card. Not sure why it’s not working. Try another slot? I’ll check mine out tomorrow, but mine looks exactly like yours. The Mid 2010 and Mid 2012 shipped with that card stock with an optional upgrade to a 5780.

Could it be the PRAM battery is bad. Has anyone experienced bad PRAM battery. I checked the below link and it appears a bad battery also caused black booting screen

The Mac Pro has not a pram, neither a pram battery. The battery is for holding time of the rtc.

Do a nvram reset, best is 3 times in a row, hold cmd-alt-p-r keys on cold boot until the box chimes 3 times.

I tried cmd-alt-p-r many times but it didn't fix. Will try again with 2 times in a row.
You don't think doing the changing battery will fix it either?

This is weird. I've been using Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable and it only provide black boot up screen. However, when I used DVI-HDMI cable, it provide apple logo on boot up. The DVI-HDMI cable only provides resolution of 1920x1080 where DisplayPort can provide resolution of 2560x1440 which is the max resolution of my monitor.
Anyone know why the DisplayPort causes the issue?

Do you mean plugged in a different port? I tried both but none of them worked.
Which one is 1.1 and which one is 1.2?

I've had the same issue when using adapters from the Mini DP of that GPU. Like Macschrauber said it is very likely a mismatch of DP revision between the GPU and your display. One of my displays even had a message pop up on the screen stating there was a conflict, but that was displayed in Windows 10, not from the actual display or in macOS. I discovered the issue same way you did, but backwards. I used DVI to HDMI initially and boot screen displayed like it should....then when I used one of the mini DP it didn't....ummmm okkkkkkk lol

I've even had the boot screen not display depending on whether or not the display I was using was in progressive scan or interlaced scan.....never bothered testing further with other GPUs to see if it was exclusive to the HD 5770 or not but just saying there are some "quirks" like this
