Having a memory issue with my 6,1 trashcan. Sometimes it starts and runs fine, sometimes not. There’s an issue where random dimm slots either don’t show the full memory or don’t show part of the memory (32g slot only shows 24g). When this happens I’m also getting Bluetooth connection starts and stops. I ran Rember. All ram tests without errors but dimm slot 1 is testing very slowly. I’m trying to determine if this is a logic board issue or the cpu riser board. This is NOT a reseating issue. Thoughts???

I had that exact issue and its the riser card, which is the motherboard IMHO because as well as the ram slots it also contains the CPU. I found another dead/dying trash can and user the riser card from that and luckily it fixed the problem. They were very expensive to buy as a part, prohibitively so...

It's hard to say, but probably more likely the CPU riser card since the DIMM slots are on that. Have you tried different memory? Sometimes bad memory acts up like that.
Thanks Andrew. Yeah, I tried a whole new set of memory. Same thing. The weird thing thing to me is how slow the memory test is on slot 1. 1 day per pass. All the other slots were 1 day for 5 passes.

Yeah, that riser card is pricy... Were you having Bluetooth issues as well? That’s what made me think it was the logic board...

No, but I had some issues with bad memory from eBay. There's a thread here where someone is offering the service diagnostic software. Try that or take it to the Apple store. Apple might repair it for less than you can get the parts for.

No, memory recognition issues, restarts. All went away with a new riser, transferred the 12 core across and ram and no more problems. but i was very lucky to get another one for parts.
