Migrating a 3,1 to a 5,1. The 3,1 has an Apple RAID Card managing two SAS drives.

Want to know if I can bring it over to the 5,1 -- which has two 4GB drives in two different bays.

How do I configure it?

If the OS is on a separate drive (not the RAID) then you can use RAID Utility in MacOS to configure the RAID card

Yup. High Sierra is on an SSD. The two 4GB drives are in two of the bays and will only be used for data and maybe Time Machine.

So there shouldn't be any issues moving the hardware over and configuring it? No issues with the 4GB drive sizes?

^^^^Just an FYI, The HDD trays in a 3,1 cMP are different than the trays in a 4,1 or 5,1 cMP. They physically won't fit. The drives will need to be moved to the trays in the 5,1.

LOL THAT I know...or would find out very quickly. ;)

Another question: Once I migrate the RAID Card, can I easily wipe the two old drives? I remember trying to put them into the 5,1 and it wouldn't read the drives independent of the RAID Card.
