Hi,
I am a new member to the forum.
I have a Mac Pro 3.1 and I would like to upgrade to Catalina.
Is the Gpu MSI Geforce GT 710 LP (2Gb) a good option ?
I don't need an expensive gpu because I don't play any games.

Yep that's what I'm using works right out of the box no patches needed. Not a powerful graphics card but plenty for what I do.

I try to instal the MSI GT 710 2GD3 LP, but the screen is black on Catalina and Mojave.
The GPU works perfect on High Sierra.
Could you please help me ?

Make sure you have not installed the patches for older GPU's with DoseDue's software non-metal. If you have you'll need to do a fresh install with the new card so it does not install the patch.

Hi. I'm having a similar issue.

I've upgraded a Mac Pro 3.1 to Catalina using dosdude1's method and installed the Video Legacy patch but FCPX 10.4.7 still won't run and gives a message saying 'graphics configuration doesn't support hardware acceleration'. My graphics card is a ATI Radeon HD 4870 512mb.

Can I get a graphics card that will support & run FCPX, can someone please point me to a list of compatible graphics cards? And if I get a new card, how do I install it so the system recognises it and doesn't give me errors?

I need the machine to be able to render & build proxies overnight. Thanks.
