Hello All,

I just bought a second hand Mac Pro 3.1, and I am trying to access the two sata spare connectors below the fan! My question is has anyone successfully connected a Blu Ray-DVD Sata drive to these two ports?

Thanks in advance,
Merv Stent

Yes. Connect the data cable to the SATA port on the motherboard. Connect the power using a molex-to-SATA adapter.

IIRC, you might not be able to boot from discs in that drive. Or maybe it was just that you cannot boot from a Windows disc, I cannot remember.

I have successfully connected a separate Blu-ray drive to each of the two extra SATA ports individually. I currently have two Blu-ray drives in my Mac Pro 3,1 connected to those ports.

It is not possible to connect a single Blu-ray drive to both ports like you are asking.
