Hey all,

I recently patched my mac pro 3,1 to mojave (mostly for the dark mode), however after I patched it it was much leaguer and the screen tears when moving tabs. The hardware specs are:

-32gb of ddr2 667 mHz
-processor unknown (haven't tore it down)
- hd 2600 xt (gpu)

Could the hardware be the problem, or did I screw something up?

@HeadstrongZodiac, your Radeon 2600XT, 256mb graphic card is not supported in Mojave. You'll need a metal-supported graphic card like Nvidia 680 or AMD Radeon 7950.

When I was using the Radeon 2600XT in my Mac Pro 2008, this gpu broke down about 3x after I've gotten replacements. The Radeon 2600XT is not a strong gpu.

I've looked into the 680 and the 7950, but I don't think im up for the task of flashing the gpus. Are there any alternatives that are plug and play?
