Hi,

I've recently bought a Mac Pro 3,1 and would like to give it an upgrade for mainly Photoshop & Illustrator use.

First thing I was looking at was this SSD:

Anyone got any other better recommendations for the SSD?

Next up would be a ATI Radeon HD 5870 to replace the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB I already have.

RAM wise, it has 4GB DDR2 FB-DIMM 800 MHz - would it be worth bumping it up to 8GB?

Thanks in advance!

I would consider going directly to 12 GB or even beyond, as 8GB may soon become a little tight...

Ram for this machine is pricey, but worth the upgrade. It will only get more expensive as the tech it uses isn't mass produced anymore, so it will become more rare, and in turn more $$$.

Video card is another great upgrade. I just slapped a Apple 5870 in my 3,1. Very happy.

Can't speak personally on SSD's but based on everything I've read, they are like power windows, once you have them you never go back to crank windows.
