My Mac Pro 3,1 (early 2008 model) suddenly "dead", the power button won't lit up, but can hear the start up sound internally with lights up on memory board and fan's noise, but notice the fan at front side won't run at all. I first thought might be the battery is dead, so, replaced it with a new battery, but problem is still. What could be wrong here? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Oh I thought you said that you could hear the chime
The power button itself used to be lit up in the past when it is in working condition, but now not lit up at all, not sure if this is related to power system. Any thoughts?

The reason I asked if you got anything on the screen, was the led might have burned out. But since you are getting fan noises is getting power.

Have you tried resetting the nvram?

Yes, I got it worked again by resetting the NVRAM last night, do I need to do this reset regularly? Just curious to know.

I was reading on another post that the battery BR2032 may go weak and cause erratic behavior, might get voltmeter and make sure you're getting 3v. Otherwisw something in nvram got corrupted and needed a refresh
