Hey all
On a whim I sourced a tray upgrade to 12-core duallie from my extant vanilla singleton, prompted in part due to downtime incurred rebuilding a Win7 volume after an HD failure.
Only now, in the home stretch and after migration of user data and syncing applications, did it occur to me that swapping out the processor tray might very well cause Windows to lose its mind and require another week of install, download, register, rebuild.
Any tales grounded in experience?
Mac Pro 4,1 and 5,1 are the final-series cheese grater towers that differ (AFAIK) primarily or only in firmware. the sourced tray is designated for use in a 4,1 with 5,1 FW upgrade.
