Three days ago I noticed that my mac pro had crashed. I thought it was the mouse batteries running out but that wasn't the case. I restarted but from then on I only saw the black screen. No chime or even holding down the power button to enter firmware mode. The wired keyboard shows no signs of life from the caps lock

- Single 6 core processor (I don't remember clock maybe 3.46)
- 64 GB RAM
- rx570
- pram had been completely rebuilt last year and I kept it cleaned regularly as I read in this forum

Updated to monteray via oclp

What I tried:
- exchange with the original GT120 graphics both in the same slot and in different ones
- ram in different locations and slots
- kept completely unplugged for more than two days

The only signs of life from the diagnostic LEDs are the 5 volts amber and under sysops solid green, efi done solid green but gpu ok flashing green.

Now, it's not in my budget to buy random components, I think going to investigate everything would cost me much more than a new Mac Mini M1. What would you do? It was my machine for almost a decade, dismantling it would involve a considerable emotional effort but if I look at performance and consumption a modern Mac mini would be better. What scares me is the 8 GB of RAM compared to the 64.

Get a cheap working barebones early-2009 or even a mid-2010, no disks. Use it as parts donor to repair yours.

If you need urgently, get a M1 Mac Mini and solve your immediate needs, then with time to search for a good offer you get a barebones Mac Pro to get yours working again.
