Mac Pro 4,1 > 5,1 Wifi

Hi guys,

I've just updated to Sierra and my Wifi card has 'disappeared'. After some quick research on here it seems I have a card that is incompatible. The Broadcom '321'.

What is the best card to purchase to replace it? Can I expect any other issues?

BCM94360CD + adapter. Works without any issues, also continuity and handoff works

BCM94322, I just bought one last week and works fine in Sierra. You can pick them up used for fairly cheap if you look hard enough on eBay.

On the eBay listing it also had a part number of 607-3329-A.

You want "replace" or "upgrade"?

For replacement, the native 5,1 card or even some Sierra supported 4,1 card should be the cheapest and most trouble free solution.

For those upgrade cards (BCM943xx) , you can easily get the Wifi part working on your flashed 4,1. But if you want those fancy new functions, you need to make the BT part working as well. That's usually where the problem come from. The easy upgrade package usually a bit more expensive. Those "card only" package are cheaper, but you need to figure out how to connect the BT part to the logic board's USB connector.

There seem to be many 3rd party versions of the card, I'm guessing in theory any should work. But with anything 3rd party you never know till you try it.

I aimed for a genuine Apple part, which I think I found and am using, although it's hard to tell these days with so much fake stuff going around.

Yeah I agree - they seem to be few and far between in the UK, or very expensive. There are models that use the exact same chip that are made for HP/Dell computers that are a quarter of the price. I'll hunt down an Apple. Thanks.

I know, that's why I said "some Sierra supported" 4,1 card, and didn't use this terms for the 5,1 card.

If I just want a low cost native Wi-Fi solution. I will go for the 5,1 card. So that I don't have to research about which card can work.
