Mac Pro 4.1 cpu upgrade - matched pairs?

Hey guys,

I get a dual cpu Mac Pro in the next days and consider upgrading the cpu.
Do I need a matched pair? I try to find answers but didn't find any topic on this. Buying 2 single cpus is cheaper than buying a matched pair.

Any recommendation on the stepping? The ones I'm lookng at are X5650 SLBV3

matched pairs are not needed

Matched pairs are not required, however the CPUs must match each other as to Intel model number (matched specifications). My experience it's best to buy from the same seller at the same time.
