Hello, I will try to be brief. I bought a MP 4,1 without a hardrive. I bought a hard drive, bought a El Capitan installer. I am trying to install the the software but i get this error "An error occurred while preparing installation. Try running this application again." My process and observations are: 1. Boot into Safe Boot, 2. Formatted SSD 3. Instal MacOS from installer. 4. It goes all the way to 100% but when it attempts to reboot it shows the error. In my searches on Google it has stated that maybe the usb installer may be bad and that I might have to use another mac to install the software. I am unaware of how to do this. If anyone can give me help or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I bought the 4,1 so I can upgrade its components.
I also didn't mention that I was successful the first time with a HDD, but then I cleaned it because it was too slow. I tried to reinstall it and I got these errors. I returned the HDD and bought a SSD hoping that it would work like it did with the HDD but I got the same results. Do I need to reset the NVRAM/PRAM?

There are a lot of things that could be wrong. First start checking if the system date is correct. You can boot the USB installer, open Terminal and check/set the system date with the date command.

You can not do a install with dates prior than the certificates, it will fail. Always set the correct date before installing.

*** I did read something about the date. I also read something about the battery. I am not familiar with checking the batter and the date. But I did try cleaning the NVRAM and it worked. System installed on the new SSD and I am now proceeding to updating the firmware.
