This topic has already been discussed here.I would like to know if in future it will be possible to upgrade this model to 256GB RAM ?
The CPU's itself supports up to 288 GB so I would say yes, but will the board support so much RAM ?
^^^^No, 64GB per CPU. 128GB Total, using 8 16GB RAM DIMMs.
That's the current OSX, but future will only be limited by hardware.
Prices will go down in future and OS X will support 256 GB for sure Even old Windows 7 Pro/Ultimate supports 192 GB RAM out of the box.
That's the current OSX, but future will only be limited by hardware.
Don't think so. With the cMP hashing Eight RAM slots and the nMP having only Four, IMHO, it's in Apple's interest to not let the Cmp overtake the nMP in the amount of RAM it will hold. Thus there will be a software limitation.
Hardware wise, it's quite possible at this moment.
