Hey all ,

I have been plagued with no sound showing up in the system preferences. I have reinstalled Mavericks more than once however the problem still persists. I have attached two screen captures, one show the lack of built in sound in the system preferences and the other shows error messages I get when using Onyx to delete the cache and before reboot I get the attached message. I also got a third error message I missed getting a screen capture on saying apple driver.kext was not loading properly. Unfortunately these issues are beyond my skill set and I am hoping someone here might be able to assist me.

It's problems similar to this that convinced me to part out my 5,1 Mac Pro and replace it with an M1 Mac mini. I should have done it sooner. Couldn't be happier...

Directly beneath Devices should be listed all the 'Built-in' input/output etc.

I've seen this on a couple of systems (desktop and laptop) over the years, only to have it randomly repair itself later. The cause was never obvious and I assumed it was due to dodgy hardware or perhaps an elusive bug that was silently fixed in an OS update.

You said you reinstalled Mavericks. Do you get different results with a different version of macOS? I assume you don't have a Metal graphics card, so how about installing High Sierra to see what happens?
