Hi there,
i've upgraded my Mac Pro 5.1 for a GTX 970 graphic card. Everything working fine under Mac OS 10.10.5 with Nvidia web drivers, but if i try to install Windows 7 Pro via BootCamp I get only black screen. Any help, pls? Thank you in advance!

From memory, the setup process require a EFI card. Otherwise all you have is just black screen in the first few initial setup step (which hasn't load any graphic card driver yet).

I already used my old graphic card for the installation itself. After installation process i install also drivers for GTX 970.. Then i see it without any problem in windows device manager list, but if i reconnect display to GTX 970 output the screen is still black :( is there any EFI manager available? there are few threads about blank screen on PC's with this graphic card and the solution is to change setup in BIOS.

Hello.

I've managed to install windows 7 and 8,1 on my mac pro using only a gtx 970 Non-EFI.

If you try to install windows with bootcamp assistant or via usb or by using your gt120 and then switching to your gtx 970 it will not work. (EFI Mode = black screen with blinking cursor with PC gtx970)

You need to use a DVD and a secondary drive to install windows to.
Remove your OS X drive from your mac pro before installing.

Just reboot with a windows dvd in superdrive.
This will enable installation in "CSM mode".

Complete install.

Get the bootcamp drivers from apple under windows.
Unzip it and remove all folders except Apple and Realtek ones under BootCamp5.1.5621\BootCamp\Drivers then launch BootCamp5.1.5621\BootCamp\setup.exe

Not cleaning up bootcamp drivers will break windows install / bootcamp drivers install.

Get drivers for gtx970 from nvidia website.

Never plug back your GT120 under windows or it will mess up GPU drivers and you will get a black screen.

Plug back OS X drive.

You can switch to windows from OS X with bootchamp. (http://www.kainjow.com/)
When you reboot from windows you go back to OS X.

If you don't have a secondary drive this method is a no go.

Regards,

Not on windows. There is 2 drivers for nvidia cards.
One for GeForce 7xxx up to GT3xxx and one for GTX 4xx up to GTX10xx
Installing both will mess your install.

Just did that, and im getting no wifi on the windows 8.1 side. is that a side affect of not activating it?

Do you know if windows 10 automatically installs EFI?
