Hi! My Mac Pro Crash, I got green screen, some times black, and Mac restart. It just happening when Im exporting video

It is not the software (Davinci Resolve) I've tested with other softwares too (Premiere Pro, Final Cut). /// tested same Project, files etc in other computers (and its fine) tried reinstall the system, reinstall software (several times). Tried different projects with different files so its not the software or the files for sure.

Its not the GPU it self, I've tested it on windows and the GPUs is fine
I can play games, render files on the Software Time Line and it fine and incredible fast , smooth etc..
Ive leave it copying files, watching movies for 1 or 2 days long with no problem.

This just happened when I will go to export the files..just in that case.

2009 Mac Pro
4.1 > 5.1
2 x 2,26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (THE OLD 2 PROCESSORS XEON E5520)
20GB RAM 1066 DDR3
OSX 10.14.6 MOJAVE
BOOT ROM 144.0.0.0.0
RADEON SAPHIRE PULSE RX560 4GB

All that I have are just theory:

PSU; RAM; GPU; CPU; NORTGHBRIDGE TDIODE;

Could be bad RAM? - when trying to swap the ram can reboot the entire system? (I've just heard about crashing the software, not rebooting the entire system

Could be PSU Dying and rebooting the system cause can't "handle" the amount of power in the "exporting time"

Maybe the GPU? the GPUs looks fine I tested it in windows and no problem for days in very hard situations, but the problems looks like started since I change the old RADEOM 5770 1GB for the new RX 560 4gb (don't know if was just coincidence)

CPU??

Northbridge look to high for my taste (about 76°C in IDLE, but I read here in some place that for a 2cpu machine is ok, don't know)

Fun fact: When use IStats to put the coolers up looks like it can export (the heatsink and tdiode get cold about 51°C) But all of this is not scientific because when I leave the fan speed in the middle power looks like I can export (most of time I export, but in some times I cannot) So I don't know, don't know what to do to get more precisely in diagnostic , don't know what to do to solve the problem, do no nothing =/

Any help please?

I have zero experience with these cheesegraters but I've had similar behaviour in several PCs over the years (and also in one Trashcan MP): in all cases the culprit turned out to be either an underpowered or dying PSU.

Use Windows to check and reflash the GPU's firmware. My RX580 GPU would run totally fine while doing heavy loads but then randomly freeze the entire macOS while doing casual stuff and force a reboot. It worked without any issue in Windows.

I flashed the firmware to factory and haven't had a single issue since.

Yes, maybe.. cause I do other stuffs in pc that elevates the NB temp and the pc works fine... I don't know... but how was it possible? Exporting video demands more power from pc? Cause I do other things that consume power Like encode decoding video and all look al right. What exporting video has too different from other things?

And how can I check if was the PSU?
Tried ASD but cannot boot since my GPUs is not flashed one and I have no boot screen
Cna I replace the PSU? Should be exactly a used one from Apple? Or can I use other Brand?

Other thing that happened is when it reboots is like not instantaneously. The screen looks gray or dark blue like there's was no video, but looks like the Mac is working, the front led still working then it reboots, is not like run out of electricity

Im jerk reaction would be overheating. Try keeping the system cooler than you have. If you cant make headway, then sure but a different GPU or RAM off Amazon to test and return it afterwards.

Or you could just buy a new computer, like a Mac mini or something, but you'd need some external enclosures and stuff to go with that.

Thanks, but I can't buy another one =/
As ia said, I tried to keep it cooler, but one time even th coolest I could it restart =/

If that's the NB diode Temp, IMO it's definitely too high .
At what T is the NB heatsink at idle, in other words : whats the delta T between NB diode and NB heatsink?

Not in a hot country in the summer. 75ºC/76ºC are normal for summer temps.
I think so but for example, now I'm running my system at 77C in tdiode and 65C in heatsink and I can do everything pushing the CPU and GPU, like render 4k video (render inside the software) with noise reduction and LUTS and 3d effects etc... or maybe transcode video using the max of CPU and the NB goes 85C and the system still running. So what is the relation of those high temperature with the fact to export the video?

What im trying to say is:: Those temperatures are high, fine, I agree with that however If the high temperature was the problem why the system doesn't goes down when im doing others things instead export a video? Any ideas ? =/

I’m inclined to see that the temperatures with your case are a symptom, not the real cause.

You can have a PSU that is failing, you can have bulging caps on your backplane/CPU tray and etc.

Start running the extended AHT test, let’s see if we can narrow something with AHT error messages.

Crashes usually give relevant information too.

did you know how to do that? I have no boot screen, tried to create ASD in a pen drive but it not load (hold c, hold d, hold cmd D)

Follow the instructions below:

You will need an Apple OEM GPU to do it. AHT for MP5,1 is based on 10.6.4, so you need a GPU that works with Snow Leopard.

Maybe a far shot, but do you really have 5 DIMMs installed?
That's not a recommended setup, normally you'd want to install 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 DIMM's.
So, if you _do_ have 6 physical DIMM's, but only 5 are identified as in your report, you might have a DIMM problem.

since you said that a strange thing happened, 2 days ago I was with 18gb of RAM, after removing the rams for cleaner a get 20gb (don't know if was the ram o if a changed the slots)
Than after and update and reboot here I got 24gb (with the same amount of rams installed)
So don't know, maybe

don't know why is missing but is there inside istatus and is normal as the others about 38C high now
If CPU A heatsink is ~ 38C at idle, CPU A diode should be only a few degrees higher like ~ 3 degrees max
If CPU diode is at 52C (at idle) there's very poor contact between CPU and heatsink.
In that case you should repaste and reseat the heatsink(s).

If the issue was with the CPU overheating wouldn't the symptom be one where the machine simply turns off? Instead here it's restarting.
