It does the entire process but this security update continues to appear. Has anyone managed to install it?

Curiously, Safari 17.1 also appeared but this was updated the first time.

Thanks in advance.

Mac Pro 4.1>5.1 8-core macOS Monterrey OC 0.6.8

You cannot update system like that when you have OC. You need to reimage your PC with the latest OS.

App updates are fine but system updates not.

Not true. I do it all the time with OC and updated to 12.7.1 OTA without a hitch.

I have also updated with this method several times but this time it doesn't want to.

I don't understand where the problem is.

Try updating your OC and see if it helps. Current version is 0.9.6 or thereabouts.

Post your config.plist - perhaps someone can find the issue. Also as @weckart suggested, try the current version of OC - but you will most likely need to start your config.plist from the basic/unmodified version.

you have to change the vmm flag update then change it back
martin Lo has a video
so does Lance from Mac Sound Solutions

I understood that this was necessary for the initial installation of Monterey with OC, but that afterwards it would update OTA without any issues. My Mac Pro 5,1 did update more than once OTA, but it has not shown any available updates since 12.6.3. Martin Lo OC version 0.9.5. I hope someone can help me troubleshoot OTA updates.

Its necessary every time there's an update.
MLO is not patching (tricking the os to think its a supported mac) so when you change the flag the machine presents itself as a virtual machine and that why it will allow the update, i believe that's how it works.

So to get updates you have to change the flag,

I use 0.6.8 because I installed 1.0.1 and it broke the boot. I went back to 0.6.8 and got it back. I thought 1.0.0 and later were only for Sonoma.

Regarding the versions that you mention, such as 0.9.5, I don't know if they exist because on the official GitHub it jumps from 0.6.8 to 1.0.0:

No, you can install Big Sur, Monterey and Sonoma with OCLP 1.x.x.

Please note that OC, OCLP and Martin Lo's OC -package are 3 related but different things so they might have different version numbers. So, you must understand which one is talked about to not get confused. Now somebody talked about Martin Lo's package and you responded about OCLP.

OC ie. OpenCore is the base of all these, OCLP and Martin Lo's package were built based on the OC. The two latter ones are ready made installation packages to make things easier for other people. You can also do your own manual installation using the OC alone but I think that is best not tried if novice.

Very good point. When I started out upgrading my cMP 4,1-5,1 to anything newer than Mojave, it required OC and I didn't have a clue about the different options.

All the info is on this forum, but it's scattered about and was very confusing. I finally decided to go with Martin Lo's option, and for me that was the easiest.
