MP 1,1-5,1 Mac Pro 5.1 how do i boot from NVMe ssd

I have install a WD Black 1Tb NVMe on a PCIe adapter and in High Sierra it sees the drive but even though I have installed High Sierra to it it won't boot from it.
Any advice or suggestion would be appreciated.

Update your BootROM to 144.0.0.0.0

Read the first post of the thread MP5,1: What you have to do to upgrade to Mojave (BootROM upgrade instructions), you will have to update to a post 14x.0.0.0.0 BootROM for boot from a NVMe drive.
